About Us

Family.jpg

Hi! We’re Mike and Steph

Steph grew up the east coast and Mike grew up on the west coast. We managed to meet while rock climbing in Arizona where we were married and started a family and life of adventure. After raising two great kids, the adventure continues. When not working in Antarctica we are based in Colorado. We wander around the Rocky Mountains, the United States and the rest of the world.

Our Current Rig

We are currently exploring in our 2108 Ford F-350 (6.2L gas) with a 2016 Northern Lite 8-11 QSE truck camper. The truck is equipped with a 1-1/2 inch front lift, a Hellwig anti-sway bar and Air Lift air bags. We installed “take off” wheels and tires from a 2020 Ford Tremor. It has an ARB air compressor under the hood. It also has Road Armor front and rear bumpers with Rigid flood and spot lights. Many more improvements to both the truck and the camper are coming in the future.

The Previous Rig

Before the truck camper we were exploring in a 2018 Ford F-150 extended cab 4x4. It had a 3.5L Ecoboost engine and came standard with a rear locking axle. We added a front leveling lift, 34. inch Goodyear DuraTrac tires, a Rhino Rack platform with a Batwing awning and a Thule cargo box on top. In the bed we installed a shell with a custom sleeping platform. It had pull-out drawers, lighting, a propane stove and an ARB refrigerator. Other additions included an ARB air compressor mounted under the hood. It was a great setup for overland exploring and camping.

Back in the day (circa 1980s)

Before there was overlanding we were traveling around the southwest USA and camping in Mexico out of our Datsun (pre Nissan) pickup. It had a steel framed shell and a sleeping platform custom made (by Mike) from particle board. Go simple and go now!!!
